Potluck Finder for Immigration



Objective: to increase social capital among immigrant groups and further integration with host communities.

By using an application that is in the process of being developed (http://mypotluckapp.com), institutions can create events according to the potluck dinner model to further community coordination.


FULL DESCRIPTION 

The potlucks could be used by institutions (NGO's) to disseminate information on legal issues, healthcare resources, and education or they can be used simply to create social spaces among immigrant groups. The ultimate goal is to further integration and support to alleviate the isolation experienced by many new immigrants to the U.S.  Our goal today would be to devise plans that would allow us to market this tool to organizations working on immigrant issues. We are also considering the role that schools and universities - institutions that regularly use the potluck model to save on expenses and further social networks - could play in promoting cross-cultural dialogue.
